About meTwo decades of keeping African networks on air.
Technical Team Leader with deep, hands-on experience across VSAT, LAN/WAN and enterprise IT — from NOC operations to site commissioning and team leadership.
My story starts in Murunwa — a rural village in Limpopo — where I was born and raised. I began Grade 1 at Nyatema Primary School and stayed on there through Grade 7, did Grade 8 at Mathede Secondary School, then moved to Makhado to complete Grades 9 to 12. From there I headed to Johannesburg to continue my tertiary studies.
After finishing my tertiary education I pushed myself deeper into satellite technology — particularly VSAT — and spent years travelling to all corners of the African continent installing satellite internet solutions for remote sites, lodges, mines, government offices and enterprise networks.
Over the past 20+ years my career has grown through senior engineering and management roles at operators and integrators including Blue Sky Satellite, Afriglobal, VTS, Saab Grintek Technologies and iWay Africa — before joining Catica Projects as Technical Team Leader. I specialise in driving operational excellence across complex systems — LAN/WAN design and support, VSAT and microwave commissioning, Wi-Fi networks and network security.
Alongside traditional GEO satellite, I now install and activate LEO broadband services — Starlink and Eutelsat OneWeb — bringing low-latency connectivity to remote and mobile sites across the continent. My technology toolkit spans iDirect, Hughes HNS, Comtech, Newtec, Jupiter, C-COM iNetVu, Avanti, Konnect, Sophos UTM, MikroTik and Cisco — paired with strong customer-support, vendor-liaison and team-training capability.
What clients get from me: careful scoping, clean designs, disciplined implementation, and handovers that leave local teams genuinely confident to operate what I've delivered.
